Yeardot
Set in real time, the Year Dot project uses film and video diaries to record the highs and lows, the successes and frustrations of 15 young people experiencing a key phase in their lives which are then posted on its central website and partner, MySpace.Viewers are able to share key moments with the Year Dot 15 as they live through a wide range of experiences in what, for all of them, is a transitional point of their lives as they become young adults and develop a sense of independence.

Project Overview
Year Dot is an innovative project which uses its central website as a hub of support for the Year Dot 15. Online, the central hub is readily accessible and is straightforward and easy to navigate, everything in the project designed to be shared and as widely and easily accessible as possible. Video and films can be downloaded, embedded and shared and interaction with the project is encouraged as much as possible. Follow the link and discover more about the central site.
What's Happening
The Year Dot website is constantly updated with regular news and video diary entries and you can access these in a variety of ways. Just go to the Get Updates section of the website and follow the instructions to get your film podcasts or weekly info using either an RSS Feed or iTunes. You can also subscribe to a weekly newsletter.
Yeardot in the Classroom
In the classroom, there are many ways that the Year Dot project may be used:
- watch the first television series about the Year Dot 15 on the C4 watch again facility 4OD and catch the second series
- follow an individual story by accessing the web journals and video and film podcasts and make it part of a weekly discussion in your classroom
- subscribe to the weekly news updates and encourage students to follow the progress of the Year Dot 15 at home
- engage directly with any of the Year Dot 15 by using the blog posting facility
- follow the link and use the suggested activities to support a variety of curriculum areas , using the downloadable peer assessment and self assessment sheets to support them

On TV
Year Dot’s online presence is also accompanied by two Channel 4 television series. The first series was shown in the Autumn and can accessed via Channel 4’s watch again facility. Go to 4OD and follow the simple download instructions to access this facility. A second series was broadcast on Channel 4 beginning on the in February 2009.This too can be accessed afterwards on Channel 4’s watch again facility, 4OD.
