The Insiders
The Insiders is an innovative project which uses comedy to directly target its core audience of 14- 19 years olds who are thinking about and planning careers and making significant choices about qualifications and training routes whether they be GCSEs, Standard Grades, Diplomas, Post 16 qualifications and other options offered by Further and Higher Education.By showing the user the realities of what have been voted the top 6 career choices for young people today, the aim of the project is to debunk some of the myths and mystery surrounding them and to inform the user about the realities of working in these professional areas.

Project Overview
Choosing a career path is a confusing time and 6 of the most popular career choices are featured in this project. Through the videos and blogs of the featured professionals, students can find out about the highs and lows, the stresses and strains, in short, the truth, about each of these jobs. The downloadable Workplace Guides give lots of information about career pathways and top tips about how to enhance you chances of pursuing a specific career. Forget about the snapshot experience of Work Placements or more orthodox Careers Education, The Insiders project allows the user to find out the truth. What's Happening
The Insiders follows the working experiences of 6 professionals and allows the viewer to look through a window onto the realities of their working lives. Use the activity suggestions in the Classroom section to bring the experiences of The Insiders to your students.
The Insiders in the Classroom
In the classroom, there are a number of ways that The Insiders project may be used:
- watch the videos and podcasts and investigate different types of careers
- use the blogs to find out the realities of a day to day job and make informed judgements about the featured careers
- read the workplace guides and use them to help students plan possible career plans, learning about earning potential, conditions, and training routes
- get top tip career entry guides from those who have already been through the process of starting career
- use the suggested activities to support your Careers Curriculum, using the downloadable peer assessment and self assessment sheets to support them
