Introduction
Aventuras Vascas tracks the progress, problems and adventures of
two British students during a fortnight spent with their host
families in Bilbao, the Basque Country.
The new series begins as Sophie, Richard and their lower-sixth
classmates prepare for their departure. They feel their Spanish is
'okay', but neither Sophie nor Richard are too sure that they will
understand the real thing... the fun begins when they end up living
in the same town.
The programmes offer learning scenarios that are relevant and
meaningful to 14-17 year olds, including the fun of trying,
succeeding and sometimes failing; overcoming shyness; collecting
material for project work; getting on with locals; devising coping
strategies; and getting to grips with common problems in Spanish
grammar and pronunciation. Each programme can be used as an
independent resource.
