• To highlight four documentary case studies exploring important geographical issues in selected locations in Britain
• To feature stories of strong human interest
• To combine physical and human geography and emphasise the interrelationships between these two major components of the subject
• To explore the growth, development and decline of a major industry in the UK
• To examine the development, growth and change of settlements
• To demonstrate human impact on the environment and the influence of the environment on the way we live
• To enable pupils to appreciate the ways in which seemingly distant and sometimes abstract issues affect the lives of ordinary people
