Aims
- To provide illustrated readings and investigations of poems
specified in the NEAB GCSE syllabus.
- To describe some of the contexts and origins of the poems.
- To introduce the poets and their work to the GCSE age
group.
The programmes were produced in association with the NEAB.
The five programmes in the Passwords series are linked
with the corresponding sections in the NEAB Anthology. The first
three programmes focus on individual poets: Simon Armitage,
Carol Ann Duffy and Ted Hughes. Although the
Anthology contains five poems for each poet, in the programmes we
only have time for a full investigation of four. The final two
programmes, Hearts and Partners and When the Going Gets
Tough, each feature five poems, whereas the corresponding
sections in the Anthology contain six or seven. The omissions are
due to time constraints.
