Curriculum Relevance

The programmes explore the issues surrounding school-aged children’s employment, through the experiences of some young workers and the knowledge of a child-employment officer.

1. Education Act 1997 clause 43:

• Schools have a duty to provide a programme of careers education in Years 9 to 11

2. National Curriculum key stages 3 and 4:

• Non-statutory framework for PSHE (from September 2000)
• Programmes of study for Citizenship (from September 2002)

4. The school’s pastoral programme and its duty of care will cover the need to make pupils aware of their legal rights and of being fit to attend school and achieve their potential
