Programme 1

Programme Outline

Two schools, Grovemount College and St Bernard's High School, are paired off for an EMU project for which the two groups of students must design and erect a fitting monument to mark the new millennium. Grovemount principal Mrs McElpine nominates the less-than-enthusiastic young teacher Mr Duncan (nicknamed 'Disorderly') to co-ordinate the project from their end, while St Bernard's principal Mr McMenamin appoints Ms Devlin, a young, enthusiastic and opinionated junior teacher, to lead their group. Ms Devlin thinks Mr Duncan is short on moral fibre, while he thinks she is rather attractive behind the glasses. A video diary is to be kept of the project, and Ms Devlin has the original, if risky, idea, of taking the two groups of students on a camping trip to the top of Corrody Mountain to build their monument.
