Money Talks Aims
- to give an insight into the possible different attitudes to personal financial management of the members of a family
- to stimulate students to think about their own attitudes to managing their finances
- to encourage students to investigate sources of information about some financial issues and how to manage them
Learning outcomes As a result of watching the programme and using the material in the Net Notes students should be able to: - discuss a variety of approaches to managing personal finances
- explain their own approach to managing at least one aspect of their finances
- investigate at least one source of information (preferably web-based) about a financial issue which interests them
- imagine how they would approach a major financial issue when they are older, e.g. going to university or buying a car
Notes If time is available, more learning outcomes could be achieved. Several financial topics are covered see Activities for Students, and the Financial Services Authoritys website: www.fsa.gov.uk/consumer/schools/index.html The issues around the topics covered are developed further in programmes 2 and 3 of Looking after the Penneys. It may be more useful to concentrate on one financial topic in more depth here and save the investigation of others when using the later episodes.
