Pupils should gain an appreciation of the following key issues:

• Forging a group identity
• The intense co-operative effort involved in mounting a school production
• The role of different skills and interests (acting, music, sound effects, lighting, set)
• The challenge to pupils in overcoming preconceptions about what they want from an experience
• The intense discipline involved in the commitment to a production
• The experience of working in new ways, and with new people
• The excitement of the creative work involved
• The thrill of public performance
