The Creation of the Script 1

Programme Outline

The Liverpudlian screenwriter Jimmy McGovern — author of the award-winning television dramas Cracker and Hillsborough — leads a remarkable writers’ workshop to create a screenplay about the Liverpool docks dispute of 1995—98.

In this first half of a fly-on-the-wall documentary about the project, workshop participants whose lives were dramatically affected by the dispute are introduced to the essential principles of dramatic writing: a useful set of concepts with which students may approach their own reading, writing and performance of dramatic texts.

Zero VCR counter on first frame of the programme. Counter numbers may vary slightly on different machines.
