Programme 1: Testicular Cancer

Introduction

This programme follows the stories of three men who have been diagnosed with testicular cancer at different stages in the development of the disease. It tracks the various procedures they go through and the outcomes. The men speak openly about how they feel, stressing the importance of maintaining a positive attitude and not being embarrassed.

The key message is that from puberty onwards men should regularly examine their testicles and immediately see a doctor if they find anything unusual. Treatment of testicular cancer is highly successful if caught at an early stage. Teachers and schools have an important role to play in raising awareness and normalising discussion about this issue.
