Aims

Pupils will learn:

  • that the Scots language has a very long pedigree; where it has come from and the fact that it has been influenced by other languages and countries;
  • that Scots, like English, is a fluid and changing thing;
  • to appreciate the diversity of modern Scots and recognise that it is still spoken throughout the country by people of all ages;
  • that the Scots language is used for high-quality literature on a wide range of themes;
  • about written Scots, developing knowledge about spelling and speaking Scots.
