Programme 1: Rights and Responsibilities

Aims

The first programme looks at issues surrounding the teaching of rights and responsibilities and the role of law in society. In many ways this is at the heart of the citizenship curriculum. The programme will help you address the following key questions:

1. What does it mean to teach about the rights and responsibilities of citizenship?

2. How do young people best learn about rights and responsibilities?

3. What agencies outside the school can assist teachers in this task?
