Aims

• To introduce the planet Mars: its axial tilt and orbit around the Sun; its climate and seasons.
• To examine the similarities and differences between Mars and Earth.
• To demonstrate how space missions to Mars have improved our understanding of its terrain, geological features and atmosphere.
• To examine evidence that Mars once possessed oceans and resembled Earth; and the processes which could have transformed it into a freezing desert.
