Mirad: A Boy From Bosnia

Programme Outline

Starring Jeremy Irons and Sinead Cusack, this is a powerful television play about a 13-year-old boy whose mother is a Serb and father a Muslim. It tells of Mirad’s horrific experience escaping from Foca where his father has been killed and his mother abducted. In 1993 he arrives in Sarajevo to live with his aunt and uncle Fazila and Djuka, who tell his story with the help of Mirad’s diary. Their harrowing story is leavened with comments, explanations and discussions which illuminate the complexities of that tragic civil war. The original stage play has been performed to great acclaim in theatres and schools throughout the UK and Europe. This production includes a rich variety of locations and imagery from the war in Bosnia.
