Practical Activity

Movie Composer

Take a 30 second clip and view it with the sound turned down. Ask students to discuss the different ways that music could be used to enhance the visuals. Perform various ideas suggested by the class to the clip. Then, play the picture with the sound turned up to reveal the original composer’s version.

Dramatic Verse

Ask students to take a short section of verse or a collection of phrases and work out different ways to chant the rhythm of the words to reflect different moods.
