The programme explains the concept of biodiversity, and the key importance of tropical rainforests as sources of biodiversity. It explores the causes and consequences of rainforest destruction, and possible ways to resolve the problem including governmental action and consumer decision making.

The programme is suitable for ages 12-16, NC years 8-11, KS3/4 and Scottish levels S1/S4

The programme is particularly relevant to Geography, but may also be used as part of a Citizenship/PSHE programme of study, either within a Geography lesson, or standing alone.

For example the programme could be used within Geography at KS3 to contribute to sections 1e, 3e, 5a and 5b of the programme of study. Within Citizenship at KS3 section 1i is addressed and at KS4 sections 1f, 1h and 1j. In the non-statutory guidelines for PSHE at KS3, section 4g is addressed.
