The programme explores the experience of Leicester as Britain's first 'environment city', examining locally based initiatives to clean the environment of litter and dumped junk, recycle waste, reduce traffic congestion and vehicle air pollution and improve energy efficiency.

The programme is suitable for ages 12-16, NC years 8-11, KS3/4 and Scottish levels S1/S4

The programme could be used as part of the Geography programme of study at KS3 and in particular addresses sections 1b, 1e, 1f, 3d and 5b. It might also be used to address Citizenship at KS3, sections 1c and 1f, and at KS4 sections 1f and 1j.
