Programme 1: Rights and Responsibilities Question 3
What agencies outside the school can assist in this task? Some aspects of this question have already been alluded to in questions 1 and 2. In this respect, it may be useful for your school (perhaps in cooperation with other schools and your citizenship subject adviser) to develop a list of agencies in your area, willing to become involved in your citizenship work. Some of these will be officers of the local authority such as trading standards officers, police, magistrates or Citizens Advice Bureau workers. There might be many local charity workers keen to talk to students about aspects of their work. They might also be willing to involve your students in community-based or fund-raising activities. The subject of community links is also considered in Programme 2 Community and Democracy.
