Learning Outcomes
Pupils should be able to:
- Record the process of throwing a pot.
- Make a collection of pottery of different styles, tactile
qualities and type of manufacture.
- Use IT and other methods to research the different shapes,
patterns, colours and decorations used in pottery in different
parts of the world and across time.
- Use IT to research Islamic architecture. How do pupils think
Emily’s pottery has been influenced by Islamic
architecture?
- Select and record observations and ideas from their research,
observation and imagination, using a sketchbook. Experiment with
ideas for a pot, considering its purpose.
- Design and make a coil pot. Experiment using hands and
different tools.
- Experiment by pressing objects into clay to make patterns and
impressions.
- Understand and appreciate the work of a potter such as Emily
Myers.
