Internet Links on Chartism Chartism is not well
served on the Internet. The great majority of sites which refer to
Chartism are academic studies, only suitable for students in the
16-19 age range. Some of those listed below belong in that
category, but with careful teacher guidance they can be of use to a
wider age range.
- Moral Force Chartism
http://www.spartacus.schoolnet.co.uk/CHmoral.htm
Part of the Spartacus website, containing a historical
encyclopaedia on a wide range of historical topics and some useful
links. This page outlines the origins of Chartism and describes the
dilemma of whether to use violent or peaceful methods of protest to
convince a government which showed little interest in the
Chartists' proposals.
- Introduction to Chartism
http://www.uoguelph.ca/englit/victorian/INTRO/inchart.html
The introductory page to an extensive resource on Chartism with
academic commentary and source material. Pitched at the A Level
student, but useful for teachers and able GCSE students.
- Reference and collected works on Chartism
http://stange.simplenet.com/chartism/reference.html
An extensive bibliography of works on Chartism including both
primary and secondary sources.
