Programme 1: Wie heißt du? What’s your name?

Children sing a rap song to introduce the programme.

Komm, komm, komm mit uns,
Come, come, come with us,
Wir gehen jetzt zu Henning,
We're going now to Henning,
Gehen zu Hennings Haus. Hennings Haus!
Going to Henning's house. Henning’s house!

Henning is sleeping. The alarm clock goes off. Henning wakes up with a start. He sits up, looks at a chessboard on the table next to him. He moves one of the chess pieces, then gets up.

Henning: Oops.

Henning goes back to look in the mirror. He talks to himself in the mirror.

Henning: Guten Morgen. Henning!
Good morning Henning!

He picks up his coat.

Henning: Und wie geht’s?
And how are you?

Henning looks in the mirror again.

Henning: Prima. Gut geschlafen? Ja, ja, geht so.
Great. Sleep well? Yep, yeah, okay.

Henning goes over to look out of the carriage window, then back to the mirror.

Henning: Das Wetter ist schön.
The weather is nice.

He moves chess piece and starts to leave.

Henning: Tschüs. Auf Wiedersehen.
Bye. Goodbye.

Henning goes back to mirror.

Henning: Auf Wiedersehen.
Goodbye.

Henning comes through the door of the railway carriage carrying a unicycle. He cycles off. He cycles down a lane through the woods. He cycles down a path. The bike wheel hits a stone. Henning falls and hits his head.

On a path outside a school:

A child’s voice: Wie heibt du?
What’s your name?

Henning is lying on the ground seeing stars. Yannick appears on the scene.

Yannick: Hallo! Ist alles okay?
Hello. Are you alright?

Henning: Ja. Nein. Ich Weib nicht. Aua, mein Kopf.
Yes. No. I don’t know. Ouch, my head.

Svenja appears. She crouches down next to Yannick and Henning.

Svenja: Hallo. Yannick.
Hello Yannick.

Yannick: Hallo. Svenja!
Hello Svenja.

Svenja: Was ist mit ihm?
What’s the matter with him?

Yannick: Ich habe keine Ahnung.
I haven't a clue.

Svenja holds out her hand to Henning.

Svenja: Hallo, ich heibe Svenja. Wie heibt du?
Hello. My name is Svenja. What’s your name?

Henning looks confused.

Yannick: Wer bist du?
Who are you?

Henning looks confused again.

Henning: Ich weib nicht. Ich habe es vergessen.
I don’t know. I’ve forgotten.

A group of other children arrive. Yannick and Svenja get to their feet and greet their friends. Lots of ‘Hallos’. The children all form a circle around Henning.

Svenja: Mir geht es gut, aber diesem Mann da, er hat seinen Namen vergessen.
Er weib nicht, wie er heibt.
I’m fine, but this man here, he's forgotten his name.
He doesn't know what he is called.

Yannick: Heibt du vielleicht… A wie Andreas?
Does it start with A, like Andreas?

Henning: Andreas? Nein.
Andreas? No.

Lukas: B wie Bernd?
B for Bernd?

Henning: Bernd? Nein.
Bernd? No.

Frauke:C wie Christian?
C for Christian?

Henning: Christian? Nein.
Christian? No.

Vannessa: D wie Dennis?
D for Dennis?

Henning: Nein.
No.

Deike: E wie Erwin?
E for Erwin?

Henning: Erwin? Nein.

The children are standing in a circle around Henning, who is sitting.
Roman approaches.

Roman: Was ist denn hier los? Und wer ist Henning?
What’s going on here? And who is Henning?
(Reading from back of Henning’s jacket.)

Children: Henning??

They move round to where Roman is standing.

Roman: Ja, da.
Yes. There.
(Pointing to writing on Henning’s jacket.)

Henning: Henning? H-E-N-N-I-N-G.

Children: Henning?

Henning: Ja, das ist es. Ich heibe Henning.
Yes, that’s it. I am called Henning.

Henning gets up to his feet, shakes hands with all the children.
Lots of ‘Hallo, ich heibe...’

Children’s voices: Wie heibt du ?
What’s your name?

Hennings voice: Ich heibe Henning.
My name is Henning.

Hennings voice: Wo wohnst du ?
Where do you live?

Henning and the children are walking down a path.

Roman: Wir helfen dir.
We’ll help you.

Henning: Danke.
Thank you.

Henning looks around.

Svenja: Wo wohnst du?
Where do you live?

Henning: Wo sind wir? Wo wohnst du?
Where are we? Where do you live?

Yannick: In Deutschland.
In Germany.

All children: Wir wohnen in Deutschland.
We live in Germany.

Svenja: Wohnst du hier, oder bist du nur ein Tourist?
Do you live here, or are you just a tourist?

Henning: Ich wohne hier, ja. Ja, ich glaube, ich wohne hier.
I live here. Yes, yes, I think I live here.

We see a sign which reads 'Spielplatz' – ‘Playground'.

Vannessa: Wo denn, wo wohnst du?
Where? Where do you live?

Yannick: Wohnst du in einem Haus?
Do you live in a house?

Henning: Ein Haus? Nein.
A house? No.

Thayalleni: Wohnst du in einer Wohnung?
Do you live in a flat?

Henning:Eine Wohnung...? Nein.

Deika: Wohnst du in einem Wohnwagen?
Do you live in a caravan?

Henning: Wohnwagen? Nein.
Caravan? No.

Svenja: Wohnst du in einem Zelt?
Do you live in a tent?

Vanessa: Wohnst du in einem Schloss?

Frauke: Ich heibe Frauke und das ist mein Haus. Es hat die Nummer 5.
My name is Frauke and this is my house. It’s number 5.

Yannick: Hallo, ich bin Yannick. Das ist mein Haus, da wohne ich. Und das ist mein Fahrrad.
Hello, I’m Yannick. This is my house. That’s where I live. And this is my bike.

Roman: Hallo, ich heibe Roman. Mein Vater ist Italiener und meine Mutter Deutsche. Ich wohne hier, über dem Restaurant.
Hello, my name is Roman. My father is Italian and my mother is German. I live here above the restaurant.

Deike: Ich heibe Deike. Das ist mein Haus. Ich wohne hier.
My name is Deike. This is my house. I live here.

Thayalleni: Ich heibe Thayalleni und meine Familie kommt aus Sri Lanka, aber jetzt wohnen wir in Deutschland.
My name is Thayalleni and my family comes from Sri Lanka, but now we live in Germany.

Henning’s voice:Wo ist Hennings Haus?
Where is Henning's house?

The children are in the playground, on the climbing frame and swings. Henning is sitting on a bench. He has an idea. (We see a graphic of light bulb.)

Henning: Ah, mein Haus ist so…
My house is like this...

Henning: Das Haus hat eine Nummer, die Nummer ist nicht an der Tür.

Where is Henning’s house?

Yannick: Weib ich nicht. Keine Ahnung.
I don’t know. No idea.

Boys stop at ‘Einbahnstrasse’ sign.

Roman, Yannick and Lukas in unison: Rechts? Rechts.
Right? Right.

Vanessa and Frauke come to the Rathaus. They shake their heads with an ‘Uh-er’, and walk off again.
Thayalleni and Svenja run through the town.

Svenja: Diese Tür ist nur grün.
This door is only green.

Thayalleni: Diese Tür ist nur schwarz.
This door is only black.

Svenja: Diese Tür ist nur gelb.
This door is only yellow.

Thayalleni: Diese Tür ist nur blau.
This door is only blue.

Svenja: Diese Tür ist nur rot.
This door is only red.

Thayalleni: Diese Tür ist nur braun.
This door is only brown.

Svenja: Wo ist Hennings Haus? Wohin gehen wir?
Where is Henning’s house? Which way shall we go?

Thayalleni shrugs her shoulders and she and Svenja walk off.

Roman, Lukas and Yannick are still looking for Henning’s house.

Yannick: Wohin gehen wir ?
Which way shall we go?

Roman: Wo ist Hennings Haus?
Where is Henning’s house?

Lukas: Das ist die Nummer sieben.
That’s number seven.

Yannick, Roman and Lukas count from one to ten.

Yannick, Roman and Lukas are outside the post office.

Roman: Aber das ist doch nicht Hennings Haus. Das ist ein Postamt.
But that’s not Henning’s house. That’s the post office.

Deike, Vanessa and Frauke are together in the street.

Deike: Schaut mal her. Da ist ein gelbes Haus.
Look over there. There’s a yellow house.

Vanessa: Das ist kein Haus. Das ist eine Telefonzelle.
That’s not a house. That’s a phone box.

They go over to speak to the postman.

Frauke: Entschuldigen Sie uns bitte, können Sie uns helfen?
Excuse me please, can you help us?

Deike: Wir suchen Hennings Haus.
We’re looking for Henning’s house.

Vanessa: Es hat eine Nummer. Die Nummer ist nicht an der Tür.
It has a number. The number is not on the door.

Deike: Die Tür hat viele Farben.
The door has many colours.

Postman: Nein, es tut mir Leid, dieses Haus kenne ich nicht.
I’m sorry, I don’t know that house.

Yannick, Roman and Lukas go up to Frau Lachmann who is posting a letter.

Roman: Entschuldigung, könnten Sie uns bitte helfen?
Excuse me, can you help us please?

Frau Lachmann: Gerne.
Of course.

Yannick: Wir suchen Hennings Haus.
We’re looking for Henning’s house.

Frau Lachmann: Hennings Haus kenne ich nicht.
I don’t know Henning’s house.

Lukas: Das Haus hat eine Nummer, aber die Nummer ist nicht an der Tür.

Children count up to ten in time with images of house numbers.

Eins, zwei, drei, vier, fünf, sechts, seben, acht, neun, zehn.

The children all arrive together.

Das ist eine Mühle.
That is a windmill.

Svenja: Das ist nicht Hennings Haus.
That’s not Henning’s house.

Yannick: Die hat keine Nummer.
There’s no number.

Deike: Die Tür hat nur eine Farbe.
The door is only one colour.

Frauke: Wohin gehen wir?
Which way shall we go?

Vanessa: Nach rechts?
Right?

Children: Nein.
No.

Roman: Nach links?
Left?

Children: Nein.
No.

Svenja: Wir müssen nach oben.
The only way is up.

The children all run off into the windmill.

We see the view across the fields.

Svenja: Schaut, das ist toll.
Look, it’s great.

Yannick has a pair on binoculars. All the children look out. Yannick spots the railway carriage.

Yannick: Da, ist das Hennings Haus?
There, is that Henning’s house?

He looks back through binoculars.

Graphic: Hier ist Hennings Haus.
Here is Henning’s house.

The children are running towards the railway carriage.

Thayalleni: Hier, schaut! Hier ist es.
Look here, here it is.

Deike: Da ist der Bahnhof.
There’s the station.

The children jump down heading for the railway carriage.

Roman: Das ist die Nummer. Die Nummer drei.
That’s the number. Number 3.

Lukas: Die Nummer ist nicht an der Tür.
The number is not on the door.

The children reach the railway carriage.

Svenja: Und das ist die Tür mit den vielen Farben.
And there’s the door with lots of colours.

Yannick: Ja, das ist Hennings Haus.
Yes, that is Henning’s house.

Vanessa: Komm, schauen wir.
Come on, let’s have a look.

Frauke: Ja, schauen wir.
Yes, let’s have a look.

Yannick knocks at the door. Henning opens it.

Children: Hallo.
Hello.

Henning: Hallo.
Hello.

Yannick: Hallo Henning. Na, wie geht’s?
Hello Henning, how are you feeling?

Henning: Danke, viel besser.
Much better thanks.

Svenja: Ist das dein Haus?
Is that your house?

Henning: Ja. Ihr habt eure Aufgabe gelöst.
Yes. You’ve solved your challenge.

Henning: Kommt herein!
Come in!

Children: Danke.
