Programme 3 Programme Outline
Throughout history, people have wanted images of themselves, to record their appearance and to hand down to future generations of their families. Before the invention of photography, portraits took the form of drawings, sculptures or paintings. From portraits we may be able to learn something about a persons appearance, what they wore and what they enjoyed doing. Mr and Mrs Andrews, for example, shows the married couple in front of estates belonging to their joint families.
