Die Geschichte Ein alter Müller lebt mit seiner Tochter Marieke in einer Mühle an einem See in Holland. Er lädt die Nachbarn, drei Brüder, zu sich ins Haus ein. Er möchte, dass einer der drei Brüder einen goldenen Apfel für Marieke bringt - von der Insel auf der anderen Seite des Sees. Dann kann dieser Bruder Marieke heiraten.
Marieke liebt den jüngsten Bruder - Jan. Die zwei älteren Brüder sind faul und böse. Sie stehlen Geschenke und ein Boot von ihrem jüngeren Bruder.
Aber der Wind ist Mariekes Freund und hilft Jan, den goldenen Apfel zu finden. So kann Marieke Jan heiraten. The story An old miller lives with his daughter Marieke in a mill by a lake in Holland. He invites the neighbours, three brothers, to visit him in his house. He wants one of the three brothers to bring a golden apple for Marieke - from the little island on the other side of the lake. Then that brother can marry Marieke.
Marieke loves the youngest brother - Jan. The two elder brothers are lazy and nasty. They steal their younger brother's presents and his boat.
