Lifequest

Aims

  • To demonstrate how heavy elements - the building blocks for planets and life - are released when the most massive stars explode.
  • To examine the concept of a 'habitable zone' around a star, where life is possible.
  • To explain how Earth became the perfect incubator for life.
  • To speculate on the possibilities for life in our own Solar System, on Mars, Europa and Titan.
  • To show that numerous clouds of gas and dust in our galaxy contain the building blocks of life.
  • To give examples of planets around other stars, and to speculate on the possibilities for life on such planets.
