Mercury

Aims

  • To present how the Sun and planets formed from a flattened, spinning disc.
  • To explain why Mercury is only seen low in the sky at dusk and dawn.
  • To illustrate Mercury's different terrains and its various surface features, and to demonstrate the importance of cosmic impacts in shaping its surface.
  • To explain why Mercury's day (176 Earth days) is twice the length of its year (88 Earth days).
