Models

Programme Outline

Live action film and computer graphics are used to demonstrate how models can be used to represent reality. Our understanding of how the world works depends upon our ability to grasp difficult ideas and concepts. Models help us to do this. Their uses are wide ranging –- from aircraft design to the behaviour of elements during chemical reactions.
The programme shows numerous examples, taken from every-day life to high science. It explains how scientific and technical information can be represented symbolically in a useful way to enhance communication and understanding.
