Crisis in Suez 1956

Programme Outline

This programme uses extracts from two films made at the time. One film was made by the Egyptians to explain their actions, and to criticise what the film calls ‘Anglo-French aggression’. The other, called Suez in Perspective, was made by the British and was designed to dismiss the claims made in the Egyptian film. Britain comes over as morally superior and so the nation’s involvement in the war is not allowed to be problematic.
