Victory and Defeat Aims
This programme uses the medium of the home movie, along with eyewitness accounts, to study the impact of victory on Britain and the impact of defeat on Germany. It touches on complex issues, and examines: - The differing experiences of victory within Britain: the general populace; the refugee Jew; the soldier witnessing the horrors of war; his civilian wife, largely unaware of his experiences.
- The differing experiences of defeat in Germany: ordinary Germans; Germans fleeing the occupied lands; survivors of the Jewish resistance and the Holocaust.
