Programme 2: Mix It

Introduction

The programme features two composers who use technology to manipulate and organise sounds:

1. Talvin Singh in ‘Pulse of Tala’ uses technology to give traditional sounds a modern perspective, mixing the sounds of the tabla with the repetitive sounds of acid house.
2. Jocelyn Pook in ‘Arsenal - Trevor’s Conversion’ uses technology to organise and sequence samples of football chants and then mix it with the sound of a string quartet.
