To make students aware of:
- the development and use of design briefs, specifications and
criteria in relation to product development
- the visual and tactile qualities of materials
- the fact that designing is not a linear exercise but is
iterative - the traditional design cycle being just one of many
methods for successful designing
- the way in which design solutions are open to both praise and
criticism
