Programme 3: Der falsche Rucksack. The wrong rucksack.

Henning is looking through his meagre wardrobe. His clothes have holes and don’t seem to fit him.

Henning: Das ist nicht gut.
This one is no good.

Henning: Die Hose hat ein Loch.
The trousers have a hole.

Henning: Die Schuhe sind kaput.
The shoes are gone.

Henning starts throwing everything out of his suitcase.

Henning: Ich habe keine Kleider.
I don’t have anything to wear.

Henning: Ich brauche neue Kleider.
I need some new clothes.

Henning leaves the station on stilts. He arrives in the city of Bremen.

Henning on stilts in main square. He is being watched by a new group of children who live in the city. The children come up to him and introduce themselves.

Marina: Schaut mal! Hallo!
Look! Hello!

Henning: Hallo!
Hello!

Hanna: Guten Tag, wer bist denn du?
Hello, what’s your name?

Henning: Guten Tag, ich bin Henning.
Hello, I’m Henning.

Alexander: Die Stelzen sind toll.
The stilts are super.

Rana: Wie geht man damit?
How do you walk with them?

Henning: Das ist leicht. Schaut!
It's easy. Look!

Henning walks a few steps. He wobbles dangerously.

Henning: Das ist leicht!
It’s easy!

Wanja: Wohin gehst du?
Where are you going?

Henning: Ich brauche neue Kleider.
I need new clothes.

Marina: Bist du fremd hier?
Are you a stranger here?

Henning: Ja.
Yes.

Alexander: Wir zeigen dir die Stadt.
We'll show you around the city.

Henning: Das ist nett aber ich mubeinkaufen gehen. Ich brauche neue Kleider.
That’s very kind of you, but I have to go shopping. I need some new clothes.

Hanna: Hallo ich bin Hanna. Ich trage gerne Jeans und mein lieblings T-Shirt.

Marina: Ich heibe Marina. Es regnet. Ich habe einen orangen Anorak und einen Regenschirm.
My name is Marina. It’s raining. I have an orange anorak and an umbrella.

Wanja: Im Winter ist es kalt und es schneit. Ich trage eine Mutze, eine Winterjacke und Handschuhe.
In winter it’s cold and it snows. I wear a hat, a winter coat and gloves.

Henning: Wir brauchen auch etwas zum Sitzen.
We also need something to sit on.

Erhan: Zum Sitzen?

Rana: Ein Stuhl? Und eine Decke?
A chair? A rug?

Henning: Ja, und wir brauchen etwas gegen Sonne und Regen.
Yes, and we need something for sunshine and for rain.

Wanja: Sonnenbrille? Sonnenschirm?

Marina: Regenmäntel? Regenschirm?
Raincoats? Umbrellas?

Henning: Das ist eure Aufgabe: Packt den Rucksack.

Wanja and Hanna arrive at a vegetable stall.

Wanja: Etwas Rotes.
Something red.

Hanna: Die Tomaten sind rot.
The tomatoes are red.

Wanja: Die rote Zwiebeln sind rot.
The red onions are red.

Hanna: Spinnst du? Rote Zwiebeln für ein Picknick?
Are you crazy? Red onions for a picnic?

Wanja: Etwas Grünes.

Perhaps it's going to rain.

Erhan: Hier ist ein Regenschirm. Der ist klein, der ist gut.

Hanna: Wir machen Brote.
We’ll make sandwiches.

Wanja: Was haben wir?
What do we have?

Hanna: Schinken.
Ham.

The children pack the food into boxes and put the boxes in the rucksack.

Henning’s voice: Ich brauche neue Kleider.
I need new clothes.

Henning walks through shopping street on stilts. He walks into a shop and goes into the changing room.

Henning: Diese Hose ist zu kurz, und zu weit.
These trousers are too short, and too wide.

Henning: Diese Hose ist zu lang.
These trousers are too long.

Henning: Diese Hose ist genau richtig! Mit dem gelben Hemd und den roten Socken.
These trousers are just right. With the yellow shirt and the red socks.

Henning: Diese Jacke ist zu kurz und zu eng.
This jacket is too short and too tight.

Henning: Dieser Mantel ist zu grob.
This coat is too big.

Henning: Dieser Mantel passt.
This coat fits.

Henning: Dieser Mantel ist sehr Gut. Und jetzt noch eine Mütze. Diese Mütze ist zu grob.
This coat is very good. And now for a hat. This hat is too big.

Henning: Diese Mütze ist gut. Sie passt.
This hat is good. It fits.

Henning: Ich brauche keine Schuhe. Ich brauche keine Stelzen. Ich brauche diese Dinger. Inline-Skates.
I don’t need shoes. I don’t need stilts. I need these things. Inline skates.

He skates off out of the shop and through park to meet the children.

Hanna: Dein neuer Hut ist cool!
Your new hat is cool!

Erhan: Deine neue Hose ist gut.
Your new trousers are great.

Marina: Deine neue Schuhe sind wirklich schick!
Your new shoes are really smart!

Alexander: Das sind keine Schuhe, das sind Skates.
They’re not shoes, they’re skates.

Wanja: Zeig!
Show us!

Henning poses as a fashion model.

Meanwhile a couple with an identical rucksack sit on the bench and put their rucksack down next to the childrens’. By mistake these strangers take the wrong rucksack when they go.

Henning: Und, habt ihr die Aufgabe gemacht?
Did you do your task?

Children: Ja!
Yes!

Henning: Habt ihr Essen?
Do you have something to eat?

Rana: Ja. Wir haben Brote.
Yes. We have sandwiches.

Henning: Habt ihr etwas zum Sitzen?
Do you have something to sit on?

Alexander: Ja. Wir haben eine Decke.
Yes, we have a rug.

Henning: Habt ihr etwas gegen die Sonne?
Do you have something for the sunshine?

Wanja: Ja, wir haben Sonnenbrillen.
Yes, we have sunglasses.

Henning: Habt ihr etwas gegen den Regen?
Do you have something for the rain?

Hanna: Ja, wir haben einen Regenschirm.
Yes, we have an umbrella.

Erhan runs to get the rucksack.

Henning: Ihr habt eure Aufgabe gut gemacht.
You have done your task well.

Henning: Ich trage den Rucksack.
I'll carry the rucksack.

Henning: Der Rucksack ist aber leicht.
The rucksack is not very heavy.

Henning: Ist alles in diesem Rucksack drin?
Is everything in this rucksack?

They open the rucksack.

Wanja: Das ist nicht unser Rucksack!
That is not our rucksack!

Rana: Da ist kein Essen drin!
There is no food inside!

Alexander: Da ist keine Decke.
There is no rug.

Erhan: Wo ist unser Rucksack?
Where is our rucksack?

Henning: Was ist drin?
What is in it?

They find a pair of sunglasses and a towel, a baseball cap with the logo of a football club, and a fishing rod.

Henning: Was ist das?
What is this?

Alexander: Handtuch, Sonnenbrille.
A towel, sunglasses.

Henning: Was ist das?
What is this?

Wanja: Schau, das ist ein Fußballverein.
Look it is from a football club.

Henning: Was ist das?
What is this?

Marina: Eine Angel zum Fischen.
A fishing rod.

The children split up into three groups to go to try to find the strangers who have taken their rucksack.

Graphic and voice: Komm, wir suchen den Rucksack.
Come on. Let's find the rucksack.

Alexander and Erhan are waiting for a tram.

Erhan: Wir suchen im Fußballstadion.
We'll look at the football club.

Alexander: Komm, wir fahren mit der Strabenbahn.
Come on, let’s take the tram.

Henning’s voice: Mit der Strabenbahn.
On the tram.

Alexander: Hast du deine Karte?
Do you have your ticket?

Erhan: Ja.
Yes.

The tram pulls away, the boys sit down.

Henning’s voice: Zum Flub.
To the river.

Wanja: Wir haben eine Angel.
We’ve got a fishing rod.

Hanna: Wir suchen am Flub.
We’ll look along the river.

Wanja: Wir nehmen ein Boot. Da, schau, da ist ein Boot.
We'll take a boat. Look, there’s a boat.

Hanna: Ja, sehr gut, das Boot.
Yeah, great, that boat.

They run down onto the boat. On the boat, they look through binoculars.

Henning’s voice: Zum Schwimmbad.
To the swimming pool.

Rana and Marina arrive at the swimming pool and look round for a rucksack.

Marina: Hier ist das Schwimmbad.
Here’s the swimming pool.

Rana: Aber es ist kalt, es regnet, es ist windig und die Sonne scheint nicht.
But it’s cold, it’s raining, it’s windy and the sun isn’t shining.

Marina: Hier ist niemand. Hier ist unser Rucksack nicht.
There’s no-one here. Our rucksack isn’t here.

Henning’s voice: Zum Fußballstadion.
To the football stadium.

Alexander: Das Stadion ist leer.
The stadium is empty.

Erhan: Hier ist niemand. Wo ist unser Rucksack?
There’s no-one here. Where is our rucksack?

Hanna: Da, schau!
There, look!

Through the binoculars she spots the couple who walked away with the wrong rucksack.

Wanja: Wo?
Where?

Hanna: Da drüben! Da ist unser Rucksack!
Over there! There is our rucksack!

They use their mobile phone to send a text message.

Wanja: Wir haben ihn. Kommt zum Fluß.
We've got them. Come to the river.

Rana and Marina get a text message on their phone.

Marina: Wir haben ihn. Kommt zum Fluß.
We've got it. Come to the river.

Rana: Ja, super!
Great!

Alexander and Erhan read the text message.

Alexander: Kommt zum Fluß.
Come to the river.

Erhan: Ja, toll!
Brilliant!

The children run up to the two strangers.

Rana: Das ist unser Rucksack.
That's our rucksack.

Man: Euer Rucksack?
Your rucksack?

Hanna: Ja, und hier ist Ihr Rucksack.
Yes, and here is your rucksack.

They return the rucksack to the strangers. The strangers open the rucksack.

Woman: Schau, richtig! Da ist meine Sonnenbrille. Schau mal, mein Handtuch.
Look! That's right. These are my sunglasses! Look, my towel.

Man: Und hier ist meine Baseballmütze.
And here is my baseball cap.

Woman: Und hier ist deine Angel.
And here is your fishing rod.

Man: Oh, da ist sie ja!
Oh, there it is!

Woman: Danke!
Thank you!

Man: Vielen Dank!
Thank you very much!

The children sit down and open their rucksack.

Hanna: Schaut! Die Decke!
Look! The rug!

Wanja: Das Essen.
The food.

Marina: Der Regenschirm. Alles ist hier.
The umbrella. Everything is here.

Rana: Das ist unser Rucksack!
That is our rucksack!

Alexander: Jetzt können wir Picknick machen.
Now we can have our picnic.

Marina: Hier ist die Decke.
Here’s the rug.

Hanna: Hier ist das Essen. Rote Tomaten, grüne Gurke...
Here is the food. Red tomatoes, green cucumber...

Wanja: Ich habe Hunger.
I’m hungry.

Erhan: Ich auch.
Me too.

Alexander: Gibt es Schokolade?
Is there any chocolate?

Children: NEIN! Keine Schokolade.
NO! No chocolate.

Strangers come to the children and ask...

Woman: Sagt, wie kommt ihr hierher?
Tell me, how did you get here?

Man: Wie habt ihr uns gefunden?
How did you find us?

Children: Leicht!
Easy!

Marina: Die Sonnenbrille und das Handtuch - die sind für das Schwimmbad. Also sind wir zum Schwimmbad!
Sunglasses and towel - they are for the swimming pool. So, off to the swimming pool!

Woman: Zum Schwimmbad?
To the swimming pool?

Marina: Ja.
Yes.

Erhan: Die Baseballmütze ist von Werder Bremen. Also sind wir zum Fußballstadion.
The baseball cap is from Werder Bremen. So we went to the football stadium.

Man: Zum Fußballstadion!
To the football stadium!

Wanja: Und die Angel ist zum Fischen. Also sind wir zum Fluß!
And the fishing rod is for fishing. So, we went to the river!

Woman: Mit dem Boot?
By boat?

Hanna: Ja, klar.
Yes, of course.

Man: Ihr seid richtige Detektives!
You are real detectives!

They all say goodbye to each other. The strangers leave.

Henning appears in a puff of smoke.

Henning: Hallo!
Hello!

Children: Hallo!
Hello!

Henning: Sehr gut, Ihr habt den Rucksack gefunden.
Well done, you found the rucksack.

Children: Ja.
Yes.

Henning: Ihr habt die Aufgabe gelöst?
You solved the task?

Children: Ja.
Yes.

Henning: Ihr habt das Picknick gemacht?
You made the picnic?

Children: Ja.
Yes.

Henning: Ich habe Hunger.
I’m hungry.

Children: Ja.

They get stuck into the picnic.
