Outcomes
Pupils should gain an understanding of:
- How lung structure enables gas exchange to take place;
- How smoking affects lung structure and gas exchange;
- That the abuse of alcohol, solvents and other drugs affects
health.
- The fact that a drug is a chemical that has an effect on the
body;
- How some drugs are designed to improve health, but some are
harmful;
- How lungs can be damaged by solvents, and nicotine in cigarette
smoke;
- The fact that drugs can change how you feel;
- How many modern drugs have been developed from plant remedies
that have been known for a long time.
