The programme raises awareness about the conflict in Bosnia, and can be used as a tie-in with class discussion specifically about this conflict, or about refugees. The programme provides an ideas introduction to the printed text.

There are a range of possible writing outcomes, such as an essay or story about man’s inhumanity to man.

Students might wish to research the crisis in the Balkans more fully from newspaper archives and history books. Books on a similar theme include the Diary of Anne Frank and Journey to Jo’burg by Beverley Naidoo.
