Guidance

This programme is very useful in drawing together concepts and themes from the previous four programmes, and it shows the interrelationship between arms and armour. It can also be used to illustrate broad themes from the Hundred Years War with France.

General activities

Alongside the programme students could:

• Produce a timeline of the Hundred Years War
• Use the internet to find images of different types of armour (Warning: if students do a web search for armour they will find sites that are selling armour, and not just sites with historical information.)
• Use the Royal Armouries website to research armour further.

Programme-related activities

• The following tasks can be undertaken individually or in pairs
• Usually one copy of each worksheet is needed per student
• Encourage whole-class discussion and feedback after each activity.
