00:00 – 04:30
Ryan likes to get 'hammered' at the weekends. He thinks his heavy drinking was triggered by an episode when his mother ended up in intensive care through drug use. His mum thinks this is just an excuse.
04:31 – 10:19
We see Brian out at work in London's West End, rescuing drunk people who are often unconscious. Aaron has been arrested several times for drunkenness. Mum Jean says he is a lovely lad without the drink, but has a temper when under the influence.
10:20 – 14:33
Ryan tells how he was arrested for becoming violent and abusive towards the police. Brian talks about how the people he sees are frequently seriously injured due to violence or as a result of accidents.
14:34 – 19:10
Ryan's mum has told him not to come home when he is drunk and aggressive. Consequently, Ryan has spent the night in alleys and other unsafe places. We see Aaron having his tag removed. He and Jean talk about his experience of prison.
19:11 – 27:00
Brian talks about the vulnerability of drunk young women. Aaron realises his behaviour affects others. Ryan admits he is a binge drinker and only his job stops him from being a full-blown alcoholic. Finally, Brian talks of an impending national health crisis.
