We meet Pat. Her grandsons Kyle and Daniel live with her and no longer have contact with their mother. Kyle talks about his mother's erratic behaviour. Daniel prefers not to have his face filmed while talking.
09:15 – 14:30
We hear that Kim started using drugs following the death of her brother. Kyle talks about his father's drug use and Pat tells about his subsequent death from an overdose.
14:31 – 18:50
We find that Kim has been arrested for burglary. She receives a loving letter from Serena, who thinks her mother is in a detox facility. Kyle and Daniel's mother also went to prison. Kim's sentence includes six months in residential rehab, and she manages to get clean.
18:51 – 21:51
Kyle feels anger towards his parents, but Daniel is unable to express his feelings – 'No-one can help.' Pat breaks down thinking about all that her grandsons have had to go through.
21:52 – 26:40
Kim has used drugs in prison and admits she is unable to be responsible for Serena. Kyle and Daniel fear they may be returned to their mother. At the close of the programme, we hear that Serena no longer wants contact with Kim.
