WASTED

PROGRAMME 2: CANNABIS

PROGRAMME OUTLINE

00:00 – 04:10

Inside the family home, we meet Paul, who is trying to rouse his son Harry for work. He worries that any free time Harry has will be spent smoking weed. We are introduced to Harry's sister Lottie, who does not use drugs or alcohol.

04:11 – 09:53

Harry asks Paul for money. Paul explains that he gives in to these requests in order to prevent arguments and violence breaking out. Lottie talks about Harry's behaviour and how she feels caught in the middle between Harry and her Dad.

09:54 – 14:33

Paul describes the feeling of constantly being on eggshells. Harry uses Paul's phone to contact his dealer. We hear from Paul about his efforts to get Harry off cannabis – he even speaks directly to the dealer, appealing to him to leave his son alone.

14:34 – 22:15

Harry feels his father has no right to interfere with his life, and that Paul tries to exert power over Harry and his friends. We then see an argument between Harry and his sister that leaves her in tears.

22:16 – 26:10

Lottie is asked what she would do in Paul's shoes, but she is sceptical that any approach would work without Harry wanting it. Paul talks of his anxiety about Harry's increasingly irresponsible behaviour. Harry himself finishes by saying he can do what he wants with his life.
