00.00 – 03:30

We are introduced to April, who, at the age of 15, met a man of 33 who introduced her to drugs. We also meet her mother Sherrie who talks about how April's drug taking affected her.

03:31 – 07.45

We are introduced to Ian and see him begging for money in Covent Garden. April explains how she funded her heroin habit – by sleeping with men and robbing them.

07:46 – 11:50

Ian talks about how he first got into drug taking. April thinks back on how much money she used to spend on drugs when addicted to heroin.

11.51 – 16:50

Ian talks of how drugs helped him escape his difficult and unhappy life. Sherrie and April look back on the worst points of April's addiction.

16:51 – 22:50

April and Ian both need to take methadone on a daily basis. April considers the risks to her unborn child and Ian worries that he might be kicked off the programme.

22:51 – 28:16

Baby Carmella is born dependant on methadone. April now wants to train as a drug worker. Ian is thrown out of the hostel and the film ends with him dumping all his clothes in the street.
