00.00 – 01.10
General introduction to the series.
01.11 – 03.15
We meet Noor, a 16-year-old A-level student, who is predicted very high grades but who has very little idea of what to do with his future. His main interests are politics and business, but he needs a lot of help to really understand what these career areas actually entail.
03.16 – 4.30
Noor meets life coach David McQueen and careers specialist Ann Duffy. They talk about the need to decide what to do soon if he wants to apply for university. They discuss his interest in politics and the job of a politician.
04.31 – 10.19
Noor is given his first challenge, which is to research the public's opinion of safety in the local area, then to report his findings to the leader of the council. He is also coached on the way he presents himself by a political coach from Westminster and is shocked by her comments.
10.20 – 11.27
David and Ann discuss Noor's interest in business and agree that it is based on a very flimsy view of the business world. He needs real experience.
11.28 – 16.12
Ann and David arrange for Noor to work in a top insurance company to find out about the job of insurance underwriter. His challenge is to decide which new business to take on, having worked out which one represents the least risk to the company and will make them the most money.
16.13 – 16.52
Ann and David discuss Noor's progress and career thinking so far.
16.53 – 19.41
For his third challenge, Noor visits a refugee centre. He helps teach English and works in the centre café, talking to a refugee who has set the café up himself. He learns about the job of senior political affairs officer.
19.42 – 22.26
Noor visits Warwick University, which offers a very prestigious politics degree. Noor is uncertain about coming to a campus university so far from home, but he enjoys the experience much more then he expected.
22.26 – 22.45
A summary of all Noor's experiences and ideas during the programme.
22.46 – 23.53
It's three months later and Noor talks to Ann about his plans. He has decided he wants to go into a political career, but that he needs experience first. He will definitely be applying to study politics at university.
