PROGRAMME 3: AMY LEE

PROGRAMME OUTLINE

00.00 – 01.22

General introduction to the series.

01.23 – 03.40

We meet Amy Lee, who is trying to decide between law and fashion marketing as a career path. We find out about her life and interests, especially her passion for fashion.

03.41 – 5.04

Amy Lee meets David and Anne to discuss her interest in fashion and how important it is to her. She explains her interest, not just in clothes, but also in the lifestyle that she thinks would go with working in fashion marketing. She seems really passionate about this career idea and says quite openly that she wants glamour.

05.05 – 9.26

David and Ann set Amy Lee her first challenge. She works with a fashion entrepreneur, Steve, who has his own clothes shops and still does all the marketing for his business himself. Amy Lee is set the challenge of researching why more middle-aged women don't come into his shop.

09.27 – 10.33

Amy Lee meets David and Ann again to discuss her ideas about a career in law and what is motivating her to look at this as an option.

10.34 – 15.19

For the second challenge, Amy Lee visits a university law office to prepare a legal statement to present in a court. This is hard work and involves a lot of reading, drafting and redrafting, and following procedures. She reads out the statement in a court, but finds the experience very uncomfortable.

15.20 – 19.34

For her third challenge, Amy Lee experiences a different kind of law environment. She goes to London and spends time with a top corporate law company. This is more of a business environment, with more scope for creativity. She has to research a government initiative and give a presentation on this to the company. She is able to put in her own ideas and use multi-media presentation software.

19.35 – 22.30

Finally, Amy Lee goes to Nottingham Trent University to find out about their Fashion Marketing and Communication course. She joins a tutorial looking at fashion trends and talks to students and course tutors.

22.31 – 22.54

A summary of Amy Lee's career thoughts and the challenges she has carried out.

22.55 – 23.45

It's three months later and Amy Lee has decided that the law is not for her and that she wants to apply for a fashion marketing course.
