00.00 – 01.10
General introduction to the series.
01.11 – 04.01
We meet Danielle who is struggling with her A-levels and lacking in confidence about her skills. She is losing interest in her subjects and needs a goal to remotivate her. Her two main career ideas are to become an interior designer or to join the police force, but she has no practical experience or knowledge of either of these options.
04.02 – 05.08
Danielle meets life coach David McQueen and careers specialist Ann Duffy to discuss her worries and talk about her interest in the police force. They stress her great communication skills and the need to find a vocation that will use this.
05.09 – 09.17
Danielle spends the day based at a local police station for her first challenge. She is given the task of coping with a mock crime scene of a burglary, with a victim to deal with. She has to calm the witness down and ask appropriate questions. Later she goes out on patrol with some police officers to see what they do out in the community.
09.18 – 09.58
Ann and David meet Danielle to discuss her idea of interior design as a career. Her interest seems to be based entirely on watching television programmes.
09.59 – 14.34
It's the second challenge, and Danielle is spending the day with a top London design company. She is given the brief of designing an interior for a real room in a client's house. She has to make plans and sketches, and she visits shops to choose materials and furniture before giving a presentation to the designer.
14.35 – 15.04
Anne and David discuss her experience at the interior design company and the need to increase her confidence.
15.05 – 15.59
David talks to Danielle about her fears of working under pressure and her lack of confidence.
16.00 – 19.16
For the third challenge, Danielle works in a secondary-school playground at lunchtime. She uses her communication skills to get to know the pupils, and when a conflict arises between two girls, Danielle joins a session to help the girls resolve their differences.
19.17 – 22.26
Danielle visits a college in Southend that runs a course in Uniformed Services. This would help her do something useful until she is old enough to apply to join the police force.
22.27 – 22.38
A summary of all Danielle's thoughts and experiences during the programme.
22.39 – 23.55
It's three months later and Danielle has decided that she does want to apply for the police force but that she is going to try to finish her A-levels first and then get some experience, such as voluntary work, that will help her application.
