TRICKY BUSINESS 2

PROGRAMME 6: STICMATZ

PROGRAMME OUTLINE

00:00 – 04:10

04:11 – 06:47

John gives Matt clear advice – raise money and employ an experienced salesperson to organise a nationwide marketing campaign. He warns Matt that fundraising will be difficult.

06:48 – 10:16

Matt disregards John's advice and embarks on an unsuccessful marketing strategy. He attends a trade fair, asks friends to generate marketing ideas and cold calls major retailers.

With his parents' help, Matt undertakes further product development.

11:01 – 12:24

Matt's parents are worried about money but they continue to support the business and let Matt make all the business decisions.

12:25 – 14:33

John calls an urgent meeting as the business is in dire straits. Colin reaffirms his faith in Matt and Sticmatz.

14:34 – 19:58

Creditors press for money. Matt and Colin meet a potential investor. He identifies poor marketing as a major weakness and believes that Sticmatz needs professional sales people. Matt's parents withdraw their financial support.

19:59 – 23:40

Progress review. The business continues to fail but Matt still believes that it will be a success.
