Aims
The programme aims to help young people think about:
- the harm that can be caused by the language you use
- the effects of name-calling
- the history behind a misused, fashionable word
- the responsibility of celebrities in setting an example to their young public.
Learners will:
- enhance their understanding of other people's experiences and points of view
- understand better how their use of language can lead to misunderstanding
- be motivated to challenge language that they are unhappy about.
The programmes will be useful to support learning in PSHE and Citizenship at KS4 +. In England and Wales and Ireland, students following GCSE and AS /A level courses in General Studies and Sociology could also use the programmes to enhance learning.
