Before viewing

Discuss the following questions in pairs

1. Find out as much as you can about ASBOs using at least the background information and the websites listed
2. What image comes into your mind when you hear about an ASBO being issued to a young person?
3. What do you consider to be antisocial behaviour?

During / after viewing

Discuss the following questions in groups

1. Listen to the reasons given for giving Ben's friends' ASBOs. Do you think they are justified? Listen to what the residents claim is happening in their village. How would you feel if you thought your property was under threat of being damaged?
2. Would you consider anything that can be seen of Ben's behaviour as antisocial?
3. How do the villagers see young people like Ben and his friends? Do you think they are justified in the action they have taken against the teenagers?
4. What would you do to improve the lives of Ben and his friends?
5. Having already found out about ASBOs will help you with this activity. Work in groups of five. Each person in your group will play a role. Choose from the following: Ben, Reece, a neighbour, a council member, a police officer.

Collect information and make notes about your character during your viewing of the programme. After seeing the programme you have all come together to put your point of view forward at a meeting. The aim is to restore peace to the village and prevent any more ASBOs being issued.
