Introduces Mark and the mentors. Mark, a first-year undergraduate, explains his difficulties. A student house party confirms that he is self-conscious, struggles with small talk and is afraid to take risks in a social setting.
05:51 – 10:29
First psychological exercise. Mark practises one-to-one conversation at a speed-dating event. He initiates conversations. His body language and active listening skills improve.
10:30 – 12:17
Homework. Mark becomes a chat show host. He interviews his friends about his good and bad points and rediscovers his personality.
12:18 – 15:58
Makeover. Hannah shows Mark which style of clothes suits his build and personality. His new outfits boost his confidence and self-esteem.
15:59 – 17:57
Second psychological exercise. A ball-throwing activity helps Mark to tackle his internal critic.
17:58 – 23:03
Final challenge. Mark successfully hosts a party. He comes across as a 'confident guy' with good social skills. He impresses experienced party and event organisers. Free from fear, he enjoys being the centre of attention for positive reasons.

Reflection. Mark is happy now that he knows that he has the confidence and skills to function in a group. He organises a birthday party and plans to participate in wider student life next term.
