Introduces Alison and the mentors. Shows Alison in contrasting situations – chatting with friends and frozen with terror in a job interview. Reveals that childhood bullying has left a debilitating psychological legacy – an inability to cope in formal situations like interviews where she is being judged.
06:08 – 11:28
First psychological exercise. Alison tries to sell herself to three public relations experts. Initially she is tearful, tongue-tied and terrified. By the end she is breathing smoothly, making eye contact and offering more information about herself.
11:29 – 12:26
Homework. Alison does daily yoga exercises. She learns to relax, control her breathing and develop a more confident posture.
12:27 – 15:30
Makeover. Hannah replaces Alison's tired interview outfit with smart casual clothes.
15:31 – 17:43
Second psychological exercise. Using a space hopper, Alison injects energy and enthusiasm into her interview answers.
17:44 – 22:25
Final challenge. Alison performs well in an interview with the regional manager of a travel agency.
22:26 – 24:19
Reflection. Alison is astounded at how far she has come. She believes that she will be able to handle future job interviews. She is pleased that she has overcome long held fears. She is now an assistant manager in a local shop.
