PROGRAMME 4 – REBECCA

Rebecca, aged 19, has been going out with Ben for 18 months. Both are at sixth form college together, have cerebral palsy and are wheelchair users. They really love each other and have a great time together, but Rebecca is lacking in confidence and self-esteem and always puts other people first. She likes to help Ben all the time and even Ben thinks she needs to become more assertive. Her friends record their advice for her on camera.

PROGRAMME AIMS

• To consider why it is important to have self-confidence
• To show that you can be assertive and caring at the same time
• To reflect on the additional difficulties that people with disabilities have in romantic relationships
• To stress the importance of talking about how you feel with friends and loved ones.
