Discussion
- At the start of the programme, Kierky says that names do hurt. Is it ever acceptable to call someone names because of their sexuality (or perceived sexuality)?
- What do you think are the impacts of homophobia and heterosexism (the assumption that everyone is straight) on young gay people?
- What issues do you think are faced by gay teens considering coming out, whether to family, with friends, at school?
- What stereotypes are there about gay people? Can you think of well-known lesbian, gay or bisexual people who do not conform to these stereotypes? Are there any heterosexual stereotypes? How/where are these perpetuated? How can stereotypes limit people and how can they be challenged?
Activity ideas
