KNTV SEX
CURRICULUM
The series is aimed at 14-19 year olds, and is relevant to themes covered in Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education at KS3 and 4 and Health and Wellbeing at the third to fourth level.
It may be most appropriate for young people working at KS3, as some of the programmes revisit and extend concepts from the end of KS2/second level. Other episodes build upon that learning and are therefore more suitable (in a classroom context) for pupils later in KS3 or into KS4.
PROGRAMME RELEVANCE
Each 24-minute programme follows a similar format whilst covering a different topic, but it is not necessary to view the programmes in order of transmission. The following viewing order may work well, depending on the prior learning of students:
KS3 (to revisit and extend work done at the end of KS2)
- Programme 1: The male body
- Programme 2: The female body
- Programme 5: Puberty
- Programme 4: The rules of attraction
- Programme 10: Relationships
Later in KS3 or into KS4 (to build on earlier programmes)
- Programme 3: The act of sex
- Programme 7: Contraception and STIs
- Programme 6: Pregnancy, childbirth and parenthood
- Programme 8: Sexuality
- Programme 9: Fantasy, arousal and desire
